Shir Hamakom

Shir Hamakom is a Jewish music worship community based on song and celebration in Greater Hartford Connecticut. We were established in 2009 by a dozen families looking to rekindle their Jewish spirituality with community worship, music and learning that excites the mind and ignites the soul.  We blend the traditional with the new, always with music, unlocking the vital spirit that resides in our ancient text and liturgy.  Join us!

Our focus is re-examining traditional Jewish prayer, using contemporary song and new music, often a blend of the original Hebrew with interpretive English lyrics.  If you are familiar with the prayers, you'll feel energized and at home. If they are new to you, you'll feel at home with our spirit and music.  We are casual and comfortable and welcoming.  All prayers are translated and transliterated so all can participate  We love to sing and we welcome you to bring your voice and to leave the work week behind as you experience our music worship, welcoming Shabbat.

Each month, we welcome Shabbat with food, conversation and song, usually on the 2nd Friday.  We  usually meet at the Mountain Laurel Center, 1177 Hebron Av, Glastonbury, CT 06033.   Our 8/14 service is at a private home.

We welcome Shabbat with wine and food at 6:15pm.  Our music worship follows from 6:45—7:00.

We know that you are busy, but make time to feed your senses and your spirit with us on Aug 14th at private home.
